Digital is one of the UK’s most well-respected and inspirational drum and bass producers with a career spanning 23yrs. The moniker ‘Digital’ was given to him by the Ashanti Sound System who immediately recognised the then 14yr olds technical ability at operating a sound system, while also relating the moniker ‘Digital’ to the future, his youth and the emergence of the digital age. It wasn’t long before Digital used his dad’s sound-system on his own, so in 1991, with the ‘rave scene’ growing in and around Ipswich he started to hire-out the system to various promoters, noticeably Danny C who he befriended through their love of music and raving. Anamorphic, Crilli and Step Drum & Bass join forces to bring an unmissable one off event featuring a very special guest – the legendary Jubei (Metalheadz).
Jubei is a name that’s on the lips of every drum & bass DJ who’s in the know. Whether it’s his solo productions, his work as a member of Code 3 (with SP:MC and Dakuan) or collaborations with the likes of Breakage, Alix Perez, Rockwell, Phobia, Icicle, Ulterior Motive, Vicious Circle, Cern, SPY, Lenzman, Logistics and Fierce, his music features heavily in the sets of the top tastemakers in the scene.
Drum & Bass pioneer Goldie recently enlisted Jubei to help engineer his orchestral piece ‘Sine Tempus’ for the BBC Proms and ‘Classic Goldie’ TV show and in the process signed a debut EP to his own Metalheadz label. Already in the pipeline are releases for DJ Friction’s Shogun Audio, Doc Scott’s 31 Records, dBridge’s Exit and Kasra’s Critical Music plus more for Metalheadz.
As a DJ, Jubei was a resident at Newcastle’s infamous Turbulence and regularly plays drum & bass institutions such as Metalheadz, Renegade Hardware and Fabric in London, Bristol’s Dissident, Cambridges Spoonfed, StarWarz in Ghent and further flung destinations including Japan.
In support, we welcome the mighty Nick Fury (Spectrum DnB Dublin), alongside Chill, Nephilim, Bad Operator, Sully and Blair. This is set to be THE dnb gig of the autumn in Belfast, so get your tickets now.
